Jan Donatelli (Noel) passed away last week with family by her side at Pleasantview Care Home.

Jan was an icon in the Silverdale community and spent much of her life contributing to the community in which she grew up.

She was born April 23, 1932 and was the seventh child in a family of 10. She moved to B.C. with her family from Ontario when she was not yet 10 years old and settled in Silverdale.

Jan married Mike Donatelli in1955 and had three children, David, Pat, and Lori.

Jan was involved with the Silverdale Hall Community Centre, the Mission and District Lions Club, the Coronary Heart Improvement Program (CHIP), served as a member of the Mission Healthcare Auxiliary, and was a charter member of the Mission Toastmasters.

She was also an avid square dancer and quilter.

Jan was in Pleasantview for almost three years before she passed away Dec. 13.

"She got fantastic care there," said her husband, Mike. "We've had a good life."

"Jan will be greatly missed by the Silverdale Community Centre," said Mike Scudder, hall president. "Jan was a vital and vibrant part of the community for many, many years."

A memorial service will be held Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Seventh Avenue.
