Burnaby girls wins short story contest

Burnaby girl Baapooh Chung has won first prize in the Poetry Institute of Canada's National Short Story Competition for authors aged seven to 11.

The 10-year-old, Grade 6 Parkcrest elementary student has had her story, Death of a Hero, published in The Wishing Well, a book of the best of Canadian short stories published by the institute.

Chung has been writing stories for about two-and-a-half years and the subject of the story, told in the first person, is the life of some crows.
