Technical issue results in wrong classifieds printed in the Dec.5 issue
Please be advised that a technical issue has resulted in the classifieds, of the Dec.5 issue of the Lake Cowichan Gazette, not printing correctly. The classifieds that were printed in the paper were not the local classifieds that should have appeared.
We apologize for this error. In attempting to correct our error, we want to bring to the attention of our readers the obituaries of Lake Cowichan residents that should have printed in today's paper and that have upcoming services. Please click on the obit tab to read their obituaries in their entirety.
Long-time Lake Cowichan resident Lou (Loekie) Volkers, passed away on Dec. 1. It says in Lou's obituary that she was active with many volunteer and community groups including the Kaatza Art Group, the Lake Cowichan United church and the Hospital Auxiliary. It goes on to say that Lou was known for her support of many charities and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of you choice. Lou Volkers memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec.7 at 2 p.m. at the Duncan United Church.
Kathaleen Nelson, who in the Lake area for many years, sadly passed away on Nov.19. Kathaleen's obituary says that she was happiest when all the chairs were full at her big kitchen table and that Christmas at her house was the original Christmas Chaos. Kathaleen was a busy lady raising many children. The obituary goes on to say that she leaves to mourn her passing many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. There will be a tea to celebrate Kathaleen's life on Sunday, Dec.9 at St. John's Anglican Church Hall, 486 Jubilee St, Duncan B.C. from 1p.m. to 4 p.m.
James Dobie Sommerville passed away peacefully on Nov.26. It says in his obituary that he moved to the Lake in 1962 and he worked in the logging industry for over 30 years. It goes on to say thathe will always be remembered by his friends and family for making his daily rounds of visits and lending a helping hand. The celebration of life for Dobie will be Dec.9 at 11 a.m. at the Lake Cowichan Legion.
Allen Pugh passed away suddenly and quietly on Nov. 22. Allen's obituary goes on to say that he was a very loved man and will be missed by many. A celebration of Allen's life will be held at the Cowichan Valley Fairgrounds on Dec.15 at 1 p.m.
