Families work for food bank
The Gunn family is organizing the third annual Community Cares food bank fundraiser at the Aldergrove Legion on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
It is a community and family event that supports the food bank. People can drop by and bring a donation for the food bank and enjoy live music, face painting, crafts for kids, food and refreshments, family photos and possibly win raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
Entertainment includes two Aldergrove family bands; Tidelander, a folk-rock trio composed of Andrew Gunn and his brother Aaron and sister Janice, and Poppy and the Pistols, a pop-rock quartet composed of three Penner brothers, George, Levi and Josh, and their father Jon.
The Legion has donated the space for this event, which also will offer family photos for a donation. Organizers are not accepting clothing donations, and any toy donations to the food bank must be new and unwrapped.
“This is our third year and last year we raised over $3,000 and 500 food items for the food bank,” said Lisa Gunn. “The first year we raised $500 and 250 food items, so it keeps getting bigger. The support of the local community and business community has been tremendous and we are looking forward to it again this year.”
