Online auction launches
More than 300 items are expected to be offered in this year’s Vernon Rotary Online Christmas Auction.
The auction runs from 9 a.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Dec. 3 at www.vernonrotaryauction.com.
“It is with great pride that we have again put together this event to assist with our sponsorship of many worthwhile community projects,” said Shane McMorran, auction co-ordinator.
About $25,000 was raised last year by the Vernon Rotary Club.
“Without the generous contributions of local business and the participation of the general public such activities simply would not be possible,” said McMorran.
The names of all of the donors and their donations will be published in The Morning Star Rotary Showcase page, as well as listed along with photos on the auction website.
Residents are encouraged to check the website frequently to update their bids.
“This year, we are pleased to announce an RCMP adventure tour package,” said McMorran.
“It’s a rare opportunity for a risk-free look at the Vernon RCMP from the inside. Your stay in your “suite” will be catered with three delightfully catered meals or you may choose to dine at dinner with Supt. Reg Burgess at your choice of one of Vernon’s restaurants.”
For more than 85 years, Vernon Rotary Club’s sponsored activities have included Vernon Jubilee Hospital, the Salvation Army food bank, Hospice House, student scholarships and improvements to museums, parks and playgrounds.
Contributions have also been made towards international projects such as polio eradication, Haiti earthquake relief and global access to clean water.
