Pumpkin patch of Mount Doug
It has been an annual Saanich tradition to leave the Halloween pumpkins along the Mount Douglas Parkway, but now they are being dropped throughout the park, on trails and the fences beside trails.
Andrew Giles, Saanich's manager of parks construction and maintenance, says the department monitor the costs associated with the abandonment of jack-o-lanterns in the park, but as it is "a good news story" – it is not a big issue for parks or public works staff. Public works crews will pick up the pumpkins in the near future, once they begin rotting.
