Garrison thanks veterans and their families

Today, Randall Garrison, MP (Esquimalt Juan de Fuca) spoke about Remembrance Day.

“Every year we take a moment to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country with courage.”  Garrison said.  “I join all Canadians in honouring the Royal Canadian Armed Forces men and women who fought for us over the decades in the name of democracy and freedom and those  who served in international peacekeeping.  We honour the memories of soldiers who gave their lives on distant shores and pray for the safe return of those who serve us still.

“I express special gratitude to the veterans and currently serving members from lower Vancouver Island,” Garrison continued.  “We will never forget the sacrifices made by our veterans who contributed to shaping our Canadian identity. Each one of us can thank them today by pursuing their mission of peace and working each day to build a fairer world.“

Garrison also thanked the families of Veterans. “Military and Veteran families make so many sacrifices in the name of service to Canada.  I thank them for their contributions to a better world.”

Randall will attend the Remembrance Day ceremony in Esquimalt and participate in the Remembrance Day activities at the Langford Legion.  He also thanks the veterans who will lay government of Canada wreaths on his behalf at Remembrance Day cenotaph events in Sooke, Metchosin and Saanich.
