Similkameen population up in 2011 census

The following are 2011 Census population statistics for the regional district Area “D” and the Lower Similkameen. Population results of last year’s national census were released on Feb.7.

- 2011 population 1330, 3.2 per cent population change

Regional District Okanagan - Similkameen Area “B”

- 2006 population 1082

- 2011 population 1140, 5.4 per cent population change

- 502 private dwellings

Regional District Okanagan - Similkameen Area “D”

- 2006 population 5,913

- 2011 population 5,717, negative population change of 3.3 per cent

- 2,845 private dwellings

Regional District Okangan - Similkameen Area “G”

- 2006 population 2,308

- 2011 population 2, 314, a 0.3 per cent population change

- 1,423 private dwellings

Chopaka Indian Reserve

- 2006 population 54

- 2011 population  70, 29.6 per cent population change

- 27 private dwellings

Ashnola Indian Reserve,

- 2006 population 38

- 2011 population 73, 92.1 per cent population change

- 28 private dwellings
