Joel Primus had never seen an episode of the hit CBC show Dragons’ Den before he applied to appear on it.

Now, the Abbotsford entrepreneur and his business partner Travis McLaren will be seen on the season’s premiere, pitching their line of men’s and women’s seamless underwear – Naked: The New Boxer Brief.

The episode airs Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. Dragons’ Den involves aspiring business people promoting their concepts and products to a panel of five potential investors – called the “dragons.”

Primus and McLaren were among 200 segments filmed, and among the final 30 selected for broadcast.

Although Primus had never seen the show, McLaren was a big fan and encouraged him to apply. Their filming took place in Toronto at the end of May.

Primus and McLaren pitched their line of Italian-fabric underwear, while two female UFV students modelled it for the panel.

Primus said the “dragons” asked the same kinds of questions that other potential investors have been posing since Naked was launched earlier this year. However, this experience was a tad more intimidating.

“This time, there were nine cameras in my face,” Primus laughed.

He can’t reveal the outcome of the show, but said it’s a privilege to be able to market Naked to a much wider audience.

“It’s absolutely a life-changing experience.”

Meanwhile, an Abbotsford company has invested in Naked, and interest has been shown from an upscale department store.
