Plans for the Penticton Lakeside Resort's newest addition have been unveiled.

The conference, special events and wedding venue will feature 15,000 square feet of usable space and include a wrap around patio with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors offering views of Okanagan Lake. The area in the Lakeside was previously utilized by the casino.

"The converted space will follow suit of the new design and ambience of the existing conference centre — upscale with large, eye-catching crystal chandeliers and the complementing contrast of greys and reds," said Brannigan Mosses, director of sales and marketing in a press release.

The addition will accommodate up to 1,000 guests with potential for up to 2,000 when including the already existing 17,000 square foot conference centre located on the west side of the building. It will feature state-of-the-art audio visual capability, weight capacity allowing for mid-size vehicles with a 14x8 entryway and a dedicated high-speed modem.

"The additional space will be able to accommodate not only local groups and special events, but also national business looking for accommodations, meeting space, restaurants and other amenities all under one roof that Penticton has not been able to attract before," said Mosses.

CEI architects and Greyback Construction, the two local award-winning companies that designed and built the recent 70 room West Wing Tower, will oversee the project. Both of these companies also worked on the Lakeside's six-storey, 70-room expansion that opened just before the summer started.

The new space is still set to open spring 2018.
