Ritchie Bros. recognized for in-house childcare facility

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers has been awarded a 2014 Child Care Award of Excellence for its in-house childcare facility at its South Burnaby headquarters.

Ritchie Bros., the world's largest industrial auctioneer, was one of 15 winners of the award handed out by the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development. The company was recognized under the "innovation" category which honours those providing innovative service in a non-traditional setting.

Its 5,000-square-foot, corporate childcare facility opened in September 2009 and is licenced to care for 59 children, with fees partly subsidized by the company.

"Ritchie Bros. is a family-centric company, you can feel it in the building," said Peter Blake, the company's CEO. "I love coming downstairs to our cafeteria and seeing parents eating lunch with their kids from the child care. It really adds to the atmosphere."
