Don Fraser, CEO/President and owner of Forewest Holdings, is the recipient of the 2014 Friend of Pharmacy Award presented by the British Columbia Pharmacy Association (BCPhA).

The Friend of Pharmacy Award recognizes a non-pharmacist who has made an outstanding contribution to community pharmacy in British Columbia.

In the past 30 years, Fraser has worked and lived in the communities of North Delta, Surrey and Langley. However, his 29 pharmacies employ numerous pharmacists and provide much needed pharmacy services in small and large communities all across B.C.

This role gives him the opportunity to shape pharmacy practice and support his pharmacists in offering injections, Medication Reviews and disease state management. His coaching and mentoring allows pharmacists to embrace scope of practice changes and look for ways to grow profitability while providing exceptional patient care.

Fraser also invests in store design and technology to allow his team to maximize their delivery of pharmacy services.

Fraser was an early contributor to the Pharmasave organization, and served on the Pacific Board from 1991 to 1999 and again from 2002 to 2011. He was also on Pharmasave’s National Board from 1994 to 1996, and his passion and tremendous knowledge of the industry has been of huge value to the company.

Fraser is a champion of community pharmacy, pharmacists and the valuable services and contributions that community pharmacy brings to patients across the province.

The BCPhA Pharmacy Awards recognize pharmacists and others who have played an essential part in the profession. The awards were presented at the BCPhA Annual Conference in Whistler on May 23, 2014.

The British Columbia Pharmacy Association is a not-for-profit, voluntary, professional association of pharmacists and pharmacies. It represents more than 2,800 pharmacists and more than 800 pharmacies throughout BC.
