Green Jobs Town Hall coming to Castlegar
A town hall meeting concerning a sustainable, environment-friendly economy is coming up in Castlegar on June 3.
GreenJobsBC will hold the event to get feedback from citizens about their goals for creating local jobs that are good for the economy and the environment. Invited will be labour and environmental groups for constructive conversation on how to achieve these goals. The event will be held at the Sandman Hotel, 1944 Columbia Ave, at 7 p.m.
West Kootenay residents are welcome to join BC Federation of Labour Secretary-Treasurer Irene Lanzinger, Pembina Institute Strategic Advisor Ellen Pond, and other speakers to hear about possibilities for creating green jobs, and to share local visions for their community.
"B.C. needs committed action and strong policies to strengthen our economy while lowering GHG emissions," says Irene Lanzinger. “We can create long-term jobs, protect our environment, and build healthy and prosperous communities if we come together around solutions."
“Creating green jobs is a very real option for BC, but we need to hear from communities about how to work together to achieve this. These conversations will contribute to a vision for a green economy that includes all of BC, from cities to resource communities,” says GreenJobs BC co-chair Lisa Matthaus of Organizing for Change.
