Wing Creek Resort — north of Nelson — named one of top 10 B&Bs in the world
A bed and breakfast near Kaslo was named one of the top Bed and Breakfasts in the world by an online source.
BedandBreakfast.com listed Wing Creek Resort among some illustrious destinations chosen as the top 10 of 2013.
“Wing Creek Resort is honoured to be selected as a winner and proud to be representing Canada on this impressive list of award-winning international resort inns,” said owner Kevin Hoffart. “We are especially happy to be able to help promote this unique part of the world and attract new visitors here.”
He and partner Debra Hamilton love what they do and where they live. Their resort consists of timber frame homes and vacation cottages situated on 20 acres of Kootenay Lake waterfront and BedandBreakfast.com describes Wing Creek was a place for “adults looking to unplug from everyday life and reconnect with nature.”
“Spend the afternoon on the large cedar deck outside your cottage and lose yourself in a book or find your center in meditation and then grab dinner at one of the nearby restaurants serving fresh, local cuisine before coming back to sit by the fire pit to watch the stars come out,” reads the site.
Other bed and breakfasts making the list are Paradise Bay Resort in Hawaii, Laguna Lodge Eco-Resort and Nature Reserve in Guatamala and The Mountain Road Resort in Vermont.
Hoffart says many of the other winning resorts are similar to Wing Creek in that they do a great job representing the part of the world in which they are situated.
“Creating an experience that our guests feel is genuinely authentic and immerses them in our local culture is something that we work really hard to provide. Our guests comment on this frequently,” he says.
Guests also often describe the environment at paradise.
“But more importantly, also describe it as being exactly what they thought Canada would be like,” says Hoffart.
