River Green towers are move-in ready

When the marketers for the River Green development first opened the multi-million dollar presentation centre in June of 2010, they promised a luxurious development with top-notch finishings, amenities and waterfront views of the Fraser River and North Shore mountains.

On Tuesday, John Ryan, vice president of ASPAC, beamed like a proud first-time father as he took the media for a tour of the facility that sits on the edge of the Middle Arm of the Fraser River, next to the No. 2 Road bridge and just west of the Richmond Olympic Oval.

Ryan said he and his team have been receiving a lot of praise about the final product.

Take a stroll along the dyke that runs to the north of River Green, and what you’ll see is unique.

Inspired by Richmond’s geography, the ground-floor condos feature island-like concrete patios and wood gazebos, surrounded by water about six inches deep.

Ryan said the six towers, which feature 458 homes, are about 80 per cent sold out.

He said based on experience from previous projects, some units aren’t sold until buyers get to see whether the final product fulfills the promise made by marketing brochures.

Residents started moving into their new homes in September.

Among the units that remain available is one massive, 3,000-plus square-foot, four-bedroom villa that features eight-metre high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, a private three-car garage, three entrances and a price tag that’s north of $3 million.

During the tour, Ryan pointed out the extra attention to detail at River Green, with the extensive use of wood, and the spectacular amenities that travellers might normally find in high-end hotels, including a massive indoor 25-metre swimming pool, a big-screen theatre room, a virtual golf centre, and a round-the-clock concierge service.

There’s also a regularly-running shuttle service to the nearby malls, but considering the price tag at River Green, and the parking lot that’s filled almost exclusively with BMWs and Mercedes vehicles, it’s a good bet that most will be driving themselves around.
