A growing number of dental technicians are nearing retirement, but there aren’t enough well-trained professionals to fill their positions.

CDI College is currently hosting an open house today (Feb. 21) at its campus in Surrey to highlight the Dental Technician program and introduce this growing field to those interested in a stable dental career.

Thanks to their specialized training, dental technicians will always be in demand. The growth of Canada’s aging population is expected increase the need for their services, as well. According to Work BC, approximately 1,040 positions will open up by 2015, the majority of which will result from retirements in the field.

CDI College is the only school in B.C. to offer digital design and manufacturing (CAD and CAM) training for the dental technician field, setting the program apart from others in the province.

Guests at the open house will have a chance to learn more about the Dental Technician program at CDI College, the profession, and the opportunities that await them upon graduation. On hand will be instructors from CDI’s Dental Technician and Dental Assisting programs, staff from the college and representatives from the College of Dental Technicians of British Columbia.

In addition, guests will be able to tour the campus and check out the brand new, state-of-the-art dental lab. Admissions representatives and other campus staff will be on hand to discuss tuition and student financial aid, as well.

The open house runs from 3-7 p.m. at the Surrey campus. #100-11125 124 St.
