Curry line on the move
Renowned chef/restaurateur Vikram Vij will be moving packaged food preparations from his Vij’s Rangoli restaurant in Vancouver to the new Vij’s Inspired Indian Cuisine production facility in Surrey.
Vij opened the larger, purpose-built facility after production of the packaged-curry line – which he and wife Meeru created in 2004 – became constricted in his small restaurant kitchen.
The same chefs who have been preparing the curries at Rangoli are now cooking at the Surrey facility (19466 155 Ave.) under Vij’s guidance.
All the curries are flash frozen immediately after cooking, and can be reheated in their boil-a-bag, BPA-free packaging.
The products are now available in select grocery stores.
“My goal is to elevate the love of Indian food in Canada,” Vij said in a release. “I can’t open up a restaurant in every city, but I can share my food through grocery stores for people to enjoy at home.”
