Police are looking for suspects involved in a quick smash and grab at the Westwind Beer and Wine store on Monday, Nov. 2.
At 4 a.m., two suspects smashed their way through the Cherry Creek Rd. store’s front door and stole an undisclosed amount of Polar Vodka. The suspects were in and out of the store in minutes before driving off in a stolen older model Dodge Sprint, RCMP Const. Gary O'Brien said.
Security cameras inside the store captured images of the suspects. One is wearing a horizontal striped sweater, is described as being a First Nations female, approximately 5’6” tall and between ages 16-23.
There were three suspects involved. One remained in the vehicle while the other two entered the store.
A person who desccribed herself as a manager at the store said a dollar estimate on the damage hasn't been tabulated yet. "But the store's doors have to be replaced," she said.
There is a Nanaimo connection to the crime. The vehicle they were using was stolen from the 400 block of Harewood Ave. in Nanaimo Sunday evening between 6 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. Nov. 2.
Port Alberni RCMP later found the vehicle abandoned.
