Alberni's Christina Spence Proteau holds lead at BC Women's Amateur

SALMON ARM, B.C. (July 1, 2009) – Christina Spence Proteau of Port Alberni, B.C. shot a 2-under par 70 during today’s second round to hold onto her opening-round lead with 1-under 143 in both the 2009 B.C. Women’s Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships being played at Canoe Creek Golf Course.

Spence Proteau, who sits 1-under par for the championship is just one shot ahead of Port Coquitlam, B.C.’s Soo Bin Kim. Kim fired a women’s course record, 4-under par 68 to propel her to second place at even par 144.

Sue Kim of Langley, B.C. is alone in third at 4-over 148 while Christine Wong of Richmond, B.C. moved to fourth at 6-over 150.

Defending champion, Kira Meixner shares a piece of fifth at 7-over 151.

In the Mid-Amateur Championship, defending champion Jackie Little of Port Alberni, B.C. maintained second place at 12-over 156 while Karen Pultz of Surrey, B.C. moved to third at 15-over 159. Kim Evans of Terrace, B.C. rounds out the top four at 16-over 160.
