Shuswap takes Interior opponents by storm

The Shuswap Storm travelled to Vernon on Friday, Feb. 5 to edge out the Vernon Vixens. 

The first period ended with the Storm in the lead 3-0 with two goals from Jen Findlay and one from Lindsey Jorgensen. Storm goalie Phyllis Jorgensen tallied an assist. 

In the middle of the second period the Vixens battled back, scoring three quick goals.

The Storm’s Findlay notched another to complete her night with a hat trick. 

The third period started out strong for both teams with the Vixens pulling their goalie with 1:30 remaining in the game. The Vixens scored but Lisa Chamberlain quickly clinched the win for the Storm by adding the team’s fifth marker.

The final score was  5 - 4. 

Tanya Bushell, Lindsey Jorgensen and Andi Williams earned assists.

The Storm ended their weekend playing the Amazons from Kamloops Sunday night.  

The play was back and forth with very few whistles in the first 35 minute period, which ended in a 2-2 tie.  

Both teams battled hard in the last period with the Storm’s goalie, Denise Forsyth, making some outstanding saves and holding the Amazons to only two goals. 

The game ended with the Storm winning the game 4 to 2. 

Goals were scored by Lisa Chamberlain, Lynn Stone, Stephanie Webb and Lorena Dubland.
