The SAS Golds AAA Soccer Team took their undefeated record into Kamloops Oct. 28 for their final league game against the solid defence of the South Kam Titans. The Titans provided the stiffest competition so far this season, losing to the Golds 2-1 in Salmon Arm in their first meeting.

The Golds began strong and, midway through the first half, Johnathan Purnell dove to head in a Dylan Abbott free kick. Cody Bell held the Titans off the scoreboard with a diving save shortly after the Golds goal. In the 28th minute, Andrew Hauser deftly dribbled past two defenders and chipped a perfect ball to Logan Abbott who jumped high to knock a well-placed header past the Kamloops keeper. The score remained 2-0 at half.

The Golds worked some terrific passing plays in the second half and finally managed to score their third goal when Shane Mostrovich sent Hauser in on a break. This secured a 3-0 win, the Golds’ 10th consecutive league victory and first place overall.

They will host their playoff games at Sullivan field next week. The semi-final game was to be played at 3 p.m. Nov. 3, after Observer deadlines, with the final on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 2:30 p.m.
