Striding to health

As the Shuswap Lady Striders celebrate their 20th anniversary, they’re inviting new and prospective members to join. A registration day will be held at the Mall at Piccadilly on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call Linda Buker at 250-804-0551.

On Oct. 22 more than 90 ladies, current and former members of the Striders, enjoyed an evening of food, fun and entertainment to celebrate their 20th anniversary. New activities include cycling and downhill skiing.

Tight contest

The Shuswap Belles ringette team was defeated in a close game by Kelowna 7-6 over the weekend. Scoring was as follows: Erika Lipsett had three goals and an assist; Jaylyn Ready two

goals; and Danelle Cowen one goal. Assists went to Natasha Gros with two, Cassidy Barron, Emily Irvine, Amy Coyle and Brenna Nakazawa all with one. 

Catch the wave Saturday

The Tsunami Tween B1s took on the Vernon Tween B Predators Saturday in Vernon. The game was fast paced with the Tsunamis coming out on top by a score of 7-3 with points coming from Taigan Radomske (1G), Amelia Kruk (3G), Libby Olsen (2G), Jane Chorneyko (1G), Bree Cooper (1A) and Sara Martin (1A). Tara MacMillan guarded the net for the victory. Sunday afternoon at Sunwave Centre against the Enderby/Armstrong Tween B’s, the Tsunamis started off strong but were overpowered, resulting in a 12-5 loss for the match. The five points for the game came from Kairo Mair (1G,1A), Amelia Kruk (1G,2A), Taigan Radomske (1G), Sara Martin (2G) and Bree Cooper (2A). Next game for the Shuswap Tsunamis is Saturday at Hucul Pond against the Shuswap Tween B2s.
