The Broncos travelled to Vernon on Sunday and won their seventh game of the season, defeating the Marauders 52-0. The Broncos (7-1) put together their most complete game of the campaign, scoring on every offensive possession and having only one offensive third- down opportunity. The special teams unit also put together much-improved play, converting five of seven point-after opportunities.
Defensively, the Broncos continued their strong play by pitching their fourth shut-out of the year. Led by the strong play of game MVP Grant Shishido, the Broncos stifled all Marauder running and limited Vernon to only a handful of first downs. Myles Brown, Chance Vanderhoek and Cal Peters fought hard in the trenches taking up many blockers and freeing up linebackers Shishido, Bryce Hicks, Brett Stuart and Bryce Chaddock to make the plays on the ball carriers.
QB Keegan Christian went 3 for 4, passing for 60 yards. Dakota Dinwoodie, Sam Wong and Tydon Robert all came up with tough catches in traffic. The rushing attack was led by Christian, Wong, and Shishido, who all ran the ball well, making it difficult for Vernon defenders. Other notable performances on offence came from Bryce Hicks and Brett Stuart, who scored their first touchdowns of the season.
The Broncos have their final regular season home game this weekend versus Mission.
Colts
The Pee Wee Colts headed to Vernon to face off against the Yellow Jackets, who they had lost to earlier. The Colts showed up as a different team, dominating on defence shutting out Vernon. On offence they moved the ball easily, ending the game 40-0.
