Get ready to ski

Larch Hills Nordic Society will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at  7 p.m. in Room 1 of the SASCU Recreation Centre. All current and prospective members are welcome.

Twenty years of walking

The Shuswap Lady Striders are busily celebrating 20 years of healthy walking this year. During the club’s 20th anniversary year, its regular activities continue, including walks on Thursday mornings at 8 and Wednesdays at noon and 6 p.m., as well as, coming up, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on Mondays.

Aloha Ironman

Salmon Arm’s Derek Woodhurst successfully completed the 2009 Ford Ironman World Championship race in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on Oct. 10. He placed 37th in the men’s 55-59 category, tallying an extremely respectable time of 12 hours, 59 minutes, 26 seconds.

Tops in scoring

Second year Salmon Arm SilverBack forward Mark Zengerle from Rochester, N.Y. is currently second in BCHL league scoring with 10 goals, 19 assists for 29 points in 12 games. Penticton’s Denver Manderson leads with 12 goals, 23 assists and 35 points in 14 games. The ’Backs David Killip is 6th overall with 19 points while Travis Statchuk is 12th with 17 points.
