SmartCentres should proceed immediately

I cannot help but comment on the article in last week’s Observer regarding the proposed centre for Salmon Arm.
It seems to me the council and some councillors are against this proposal for very selfish reasons and are being very unfair to the consumers in this area.
We are living in the 21st century and it’s high time those councillors who vote against change should be removed from office.
Why do they think the residents of the whole area go shopping to Vernon, Kamloops or Kelowna? It’s because they have something to offer to the public.
The comment that it will take some time before the “SmartCentres proposal will come before council” is ridiculous. What is wrong with now?
You can’t tell me that things are so pressing that council can’t put this on their agenda. It is the typical bureaucracy of small town thinking.
Let’s get progressive and do something that will benefit everyone living in the whole area.
I have lived in the area for five years and I can tell you all our friends feel the same way.
The mayor and council should lead in this new development.
