Weather Watch to be missed

Open letter to Rob Piggott, Observer weather columnist:
I am sorry to hear that you have decided to relocate from the Sunny Shuswap to the pleasant Comox Valley. Each week, when the Salmon Arm Observer arrived in our mailbox, I have looked forward to seeing if there was a “Weather Watch” article in it that week. If there was, I would thoroughly enjoy every one of them. They were interesting reading because they were an in-depth look at various, and usually current, meteorological phenomena, rather than the one- sentence description method now being used by Environment Canada.
My interest in weather stems from previous history of being with Environment Canada/Transport Canada myself. I am an ex-Canadian ice patrol member, ex-meteorological inspector, and now a retired orchardist who has been using weather data for the last 20 years here in Salmon Arm.
So when the Salmon Arm Observer started publishing your articles several years ago, I thought – now this is right up my alley, and just what we need.
So Rob – it is with unexpected sadness that I read your last article. Farewell. I hope you enjoy the more moderate climate of the Comox Valley. Best wishes and good fortune.
