A young man who was born in Salmon Arm and spent his early days in town was killed Friday evening, his body discovered on the grounds of Bastion Elementary School.
The body of Tyler William Myers, 22, was found by a passerby about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21. Police say there is no connection between the incident and the school. The cause of death has not been released.
Const. Steve Holmes of the Kelowna Detachment and Southeast District said Tuesday that an autopsy was carried out on Monday, Nov. 24, but investigators had likely not received the written report yet.
“From there, investigators will decide what relevant information will be released.”
Tyler's mom describes him as “just such a beautiful baby and a nice boy.”
She said Tyler got in with the wrong crowd during the last couple of years, but had met a wonderful girl about two months ago.
“He was wanting to make some positive changes in his life,” she said.
Police report that Tyler was last seen alive about 5:30 p.m. near the Sullivan campus of Salmon Arm Secondary. That evening, Tyler’s mother was expecting him and his girlfriend for supper.
“But he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He never showed up.”
A viewing for family and friends will take place at Bowers Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
