Drive-by spraying suspects caught

On Nov. 16 at 7:25 p.m., a 22-year-old man was walking on 3rd Street SW. He was approached by three men in a brown Ford Aerostar van. The passenger in the front seat of the van took out what police believe to be bear spray, and sprayed the walker in the face. A few minutes later, officers observed the vehicle in the same area. The three men were arrested. Two were later released without charges. A 21-year-old man from Salmon Arm remained in custody Nov. 17, charged with assault with a weapon.

Stolen snowmobile

On Nov. 16, between midnight and 8 a.m., thieves entered the Alpine Motor Sports compound in the 2700 block of the Trans- Canada Highway SW. The suspects cut the phone line, and stole a 2007 Yamaha snowmobile. Police believe the machine was loaded into a truck that suspects had parked near Salmon Arm Ready Mix.

House entered

On Nov. 15, between 11:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., a suspect or suspects entered a residence in the 3000 block of 16 Avenue NE through an unlocked front door. None of the residents were home at the time. A large flat-screen Samsung television was stolen, along with some jewelry and loose change.

Outlaw driver

On Nov. 16 at 1:31 a.m., an officer on routine patrol in the area of the new Outlaws saloon saw a 2004 Jeep Liberty pull out of the parking lot, and drive erratically onto the Trans-Canada Highway. The vehicle was stopped on the highway. The female driver failed a roadside screening device test. She was brought in to the RCMP detachment, where breathalyzer tests registered her blood alcohol level at 0.13 and 0.13. The 42-year-old woman from Salmon Arm faces impaired driving charges.

Important message

On Nov. 15 at 2:37 a.m., a 2007 Pontiac G6 eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway went off the right side of the road just east of the Highway 97B intersection. The car struck a road sign and flipped over, ending up on its roof in the ditch.

The male driver was not wearing a seatbelt and hit the windshield. He was treated for injuries to his face.

Alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash, but the driver was paying attention to a text message on his cellphone at the time.

He is charged with driving without due care and attention, and failing to wear a seatbelt.
