Charges have been laid in a fatal collision on the Trans-Canada Highway that took the life of a Salmon Arm woman last spring.
Charlene Lindgren, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene of a March 29 collision, which took place approximately 10 kilometres east of Chase in an area known as Cruikshank curves.
An eastbound tractor trailer unit driven by Wayman Ora Reicker of Dauphin, Manitoba, lost control while rounding a sharp curve.
The tractor trailer flipped onto its left side and landed on Lindgren’s west-bound vehicle.
Accepting RCMP recommendations, Kamloops Crown counsel approved a charge of dangerous driving causing death against Reicker, who is to make his first court appearance in Kamloops Nov. 14.
Reicker was not injured in the collision that closed the Trans-Canada to traffic for six hours.
Lindgren was described as a selfless woman by her boss and co-workers at a Salmon Arm dental office, where a flower and photo memorial was set up in her honour.
Along with the photo was an inscription that read, “Our ray of sunshine, Charlene Lindgren, was tragically taken from us on Saturday, March 29. She will be remembered for her positive attitude and her kind, generous heart. Char will be deeply missed by all whose life she touched.”
