Afke Zonderland is going to be one of the chefs preparing a gourmet five-course dinner, as part of the Edible British Columbia Granville Island Market Dinner Series.

Zonderland will be in the company of some of B.C.’s very best chefs, including Thomas Haas, recognized as one of the best pastry chefs in the world and James Walk, whose Araxi restaurant was recently featured on Chef Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen program.

Here’s Zonderland’s menu sample:

Frozen Shuswap grapes with champagne. Orange onion wafers, spicy kale chips, Almondaise;

Salsa wrap with macadamia nut cheese, honey, tomato, red pepper, radish sprouts, greens

Creamy carrot soup with ginger, lime, avocado and fresh coconut

Winter kale salad featuring avocado, greens and red beet with onion crisps

Thai Vegetable Teriyaki

Fresh Okanagan Apple Torte with ginger, cashew cream, filberts, dates

Shuswap residents can sample and learn about Zonderland’s fresh food experience through her workshops, and she also offers group and classroom presentations. Her website is www.foodsalive.ca.
