Organic all winter

The All-Organic Market, now switching from its second summer to its second winter season, is providing Salmon Arm residents with the option to buy local and organic through every month of the year. The outdoor market is held at the Deo Lutheran Church parking lot, 1801 – 30th St. NE, near Salmon Arm Secondary) on Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 5:30 pm. Shoppers will find a variety of fresh organic produce, organic breads and other bakery items, organic meat, eggs, cheese, milk and other dairy products. To prevent breast cancer

Safeway is sponsoring a Silent Auction until Saturday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. All proceeds go to breast cancer research. There’s a great selection of items available just outside Safeway at the Centenoka Mall.

Charity shopping night

The seventh annual ‘Charity Shopping Night’ will be held on Friday, Nov. 27 at the Mall at Piccadilly. Local charities, non-profit groups and parent advisory committees are invited to participate by selling event cards to the public for $5 each. All the money raised from the sale of the cards stays with the fundraising organizations.

Markets recognized

The BC Association of Farmers’ Markets is being recognized with a prestigious Better Business Bureau Torch award. The association which represents the majority of farmers’ markets across the province won the Advancing Marketplace Trust Award.

The Torch Awards’ selection committee recognized BC Association of Farmers’ Markets for giving back to the community with its food coupons for low income families. The program offers $15 vouchers and education programs which allow low-income families to buy fresh fruit, produce, dairy and meat products at BC markets. BCAFM member markets sharing in the award in the Thompson Okanagan include Armstrong, Barriere, Clearwater, Kamloops, Kelowna, Lake Country, Nicola Valley, Oliver, Osoyoss, Peachland, Penticton, Revelstoke, the Shuswap, Sunpeaks, Sorrento, Two Rivers (Lytton), and Vernon.

Funds coming

Today, Wednesday, Oct. 28, the Salmon Arm Savings and Credit Union and the Southern Interior Innovation Fund are scheduled to make a funding announcement in Salmon Arm. The fund was created earlier this month to provide significant returns and long-term value for the benefit of fund shareholders investing in the Southern Interior.
