After months of construction, the corner of Granite Avenue and Voght Street is soon to be a hot spot in town.
Spirit Square will officially open at 1 p.m. on Nov. 28, with a grand opening celebration during Merritt Country Christmas.
Sponsored by the City of Merritt and the Merritt Walk of Stars Society, the event will feature a ribbon cutting and local and national entertainers.
“The Spirit Square is representative of our hard work to brand Merritt as the Country Music Capital of Canada,” said Merritt Walk of Stars president Ron Sanders.
“We will be placing the new handprint stars at the Spirit Square, and the community and special guests will be treated to an afternoon of entertainment at the grand opening.” Funding for Spirit Square has been provided through partnerships with the provincial government, City of Merritt, Merritt Walk of Stars and donations from local businesses.
