Break and enters keep RCMP busy

Break and enter

On Sept. 15, Merritt RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter occurring at a residence at the 1700 block on Quilchena Ave. The call came at approximately 6 p.m. Witnesses provided a description of the male suspect who was arrested without incident near the residence. A 27-year-old male from Douglas Lake, B.C. has been arrested and faces charges of break and enter. Police are continuing to investigate.

Break and enter

Merritt RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter on Sept. 16 at 4:15 a.m. Entry was gained to Diamondvale Elementary School through a window, which then triggered the alarm. While nothing is believed to have been stolen, the incident remains under investigation by the police. Anyone with information is asked to call the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Impaired Driving

In the early hours of Sept. 6, Merritt Central Interior Traffic Services checked a white Pontiac Sunfire that was travelling erratically on Nicola Ave. As a result of the check it was determined that the driver was impaired. A 33-year-old female from Merritt has been charged with impaired driving.

Break and Enter

At 4 a.m. on Sept. 14, Merritt RCMP responded to a report of an alarm set off at the Teen Centre on the 1700 block of Coldwater Ave. Upon arriving it was noted that the main door was pried open. The premise was checked and it was determined that nothing was stolen. Police are continuing to investigate.

Male arrested for break and enter

The alarm system at the Merritt Library was set off on Sept. 22. Merritt RCMP responded at 1:30 a.m. A male seen running from the area was arrested by police.

A window was broken, giving the suspect access to the building.

A witness approached police who had seen the suspect running from the library. A 20-year-old man from Merritt has been arrested for break and enter as well as mischief. He will attend court in Merritt on Oct. 19.

Theft from MSS

Merritt Secondary School reported a theft from a trailer in their locked compound overnight on Sept. 21. A portable solar panel is believed to have been taken from the compound. Police are asking for anyone with information to contact the Merritt RCMP or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
