For at least 24 hours, the Kamloops Blazers will sit alone at the top of the B.C. Division standings.
The blue-and-orange knocked off their division rivals, the Vancouver Giants, 2-1 in a shootout.
After a scoreless first period, the Blazers opened the scoring 13 minutes into the second.
Shayne Wiebe finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play with C.J. Stretch and Tyler Shattock seconds after Vancouver forward Lance Bouma stepped out of the penalty box.
It stayed 1-0 until four minutes into the third period, when Craig Cunningham lit the lamp for Vancouver.
The score remained tied through the end of the third period, overtime and the first three rounds of the shootout, until Jimmy Bubnick found the top left corner with a wrist shot from 12 feet out, beating Giants goalie Jamie Tucker.
Kamloops goalie Justin Leclerc stopped 47 of 48 shots on the night.
The win puts Kamloops alone atop the B.C. Division, with five wins and one loss. Vancouver is in second place at 4-1-0-2.
The Blazers and Giants will meet again Saturday night at Pacific Coliseum.
On Sunday, Kamloops returns home to ISC to play host to the Portland Winterhawks, who beat Spokane 5-3 on Friday night.
