Local figure skaters fared well at the annual Autumn Leaves Free Skate competition held last weekend on McArthur Island.

In all, six local club members took home medals.

From the Kamloops Skating Club, which hosted the event, Katiana Reaney won gold in the preliminary ladies’ 11-and-over category, while Shaela Tan finished second in the novice ladies’ short program and Victoria Warner placed third in the pre-elementary ladies’ group one.

The Valleyview Skating Club was also well-represented, with Bryce Turner taking top spot in the elementary men’s category while Melissa Dube finished second in preliminary ladies’ 11-and-over and Alexis Garost took home bronze in pre-elementary ladies’ group two.

• Saints march into Hillside tonight

The NorKam Saints football team is looking to get back on the winning track tonight after a disappointing loss in Kelowna last week.

The Saints marched into the Apple Bowl to face the Okanagan Mission Huskies last Friday and had trouble establishing their offence from the start.

NorKam didn’t find the end zone until the fourth quarter — a 42-yard run by Dillon Alexandre — but by then it was too late.

Okanagan Mission won by a final score of 35-6.

The Saints are hosting Vernon’s Clarence Fulton secondary school — who are 1-0 so far this year — at Hillside Stadium tonight. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
