Three roster moves over the weekend have put the Kamloops Blazers that much closer to finalizing their roster for the beginning of the Western Hockey League regular season.

Following Friday night's 8-3 exhibition win over the Prince George Cougars, the team announced it had reassigned forward Neil Landry.

The 17-year-old Saskatoon native is expected to join the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

On Sunday, following the club's 5-1 loss in Prince George on Saturday night, Blazers general manager Craig Bonner dealt defenceman Kurt Torbohm to the Cougars for future picks and released 18-year-old blue-liner Matt Cumming.

Torbohm, a 19-year-old from Chase, has played with the Blazers in parts of four seasons. Last year, he had four assists and 110 penalty minutes in 59 regular season games, and another eight penalty minutes in three playoff contests.

Cumming, a Kamloops native, played the last two seasons with Prince George, where he had five points and 87 penalty minutes in 86 games played.

The moves leave the Blazers with 26 players on their roster — 16 forwards, eight defencemen and a pair of goalies.

At least two of the remaining players — forwards Tyler Shattock and Jimmy Bubnick — are attending NHL training camps and are expected to miss the first few games of the season.

Shattock is in camp with the St. Louis Blues, while Bubnick is with the Atlanta Thrashers.

C.J. Stretch, Giffen Nyren and Zak Stebner have all rejoined the Blazers after attending rookie camps with their respective NHL teams.
