The Kamloops Blazers have traded a third-round pick in next year's Western Hockey League Bantam Draft to the Vancouver Giants for 18-year-old defenceman Bronson Maschmeyer.
"We are in need of a puck-moving defenceman in the 1991 age group," said Blazers general manager Craig Bonner. "We believe that Bronson will come in and be a contributor for the hockey club. It is always a benefit to bring in a quality person from a quality organization.
Maschmeyer, a right-hand shot, is a five-foot-10, 170-pound native of Bruderheim, Alta.
With the addition of Maschmeyer, the Blazers roster now sits at 31 players — two goalies, 11 defencemen and 18 forwards.
Kamloops is 2-1 in the pre-season as it hosts the Chilliwack Bruins at Interior Savings Centre on Friday night. The 7:30 p.m. game will follow the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League contest between the Kamloops Storm and Chase Chiefs.
