Brett Aubrey of Kelowna tees off on the eighth hole at the Mount Paul Golf Course. Aubrey says he recently learned that a top golf magazine ranked Kamloops as being in the Top 10 cities to play golf in Canada. As a result, he made the visit to come play with a friend as the pair sampled the various courses — big and small.

• TRU WolfPack fundraiser

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s golf team is looking for a little financial assistance.

Head Coach Bill Bilton Jr. is holding his second annual Pack Attack Tournament at The Dunes on Sunday, Aug. 9.

Proceeds will go toward running the program in 2009.

For $150, participants get a practice round after 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8 and a spot in the shotgun tourney at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

The format for the event is a five-person scramble.

Bilton Jr. said there will be a minimum of $10,000 in prizes, with The Dunes donating gold carts for the day.

Those interested in playing can call The Dunes at 250-579-3300 for more information and to register.
