• Championships here
The Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club will host the B.C. Championships/divisional trials regatta on Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 1 and Aug. 2) at Shumway Lake, which is located about 30 minutes south of Kamloops on Highway 5A.
The public is welcome.
• WolfPack on ice
Two more local products have committed to the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s hockey program.
Defenceman Korey Gannon and forward Joel Leonard have become the second and third players to join the team in its inaugural season, following in the footsteps of forward David Gore.
Both players are returning to the game after a hiatus.
Gannon last played in 2005-2006 for the B.C. Hockey League’s Vernon Vipers.
Leonard spent last season coaching the Kamloops Jardines bantam AAA Blazers.
He last played in 2006-2007 for the Kamloops Storm of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.
• Bronze for Patriots
The Twin Rivers Plumbing and Heating Patriots captured bronze at the weekend’s Softball B.C. Ladies C Provincials.
The Kamloops Drobot Coyotes also attended, finishing sixth.
Twin Rivers dropped a 5-3 decision to the Chilliwack Valley Cats in the B Final, which gave the Kamloops squad the Softball B.C. Ladies C Provincial bronze medal.
