If nothing else, the Kamloops Players Bench Riverdogs midget baseball team cannot be accused of taking it easy.
Fresh off a fifth-place finish at its annual Daley and Company Canada Day Classic, Kamloops is heading to Washington state to play a three-game series against the Laces Baseball Academy — the very team that won the Canada Day Classic title on Sunday at Norbrock Stadium.
Laces entered two teams in the tourney, with the Laces White squad defeated Okotoks, Alta. 6-2 to capture the championship.
The host Riverdogs finished fifth thanks to their 10-0 win over Richmond on Sunday.
Kamloops exploded in the seventh inning with seven runs.
Logan Hawgood had three hits, two RBI and a run, Matt Pouncy had two hits, three RBI and a run and Jordan Wolfe had two hits, two RBI and two runs.
Cody Cole threw complete-game two-hit shutout with five strikeouts.
