The Kamloops Classics Swim Club sent 20 swimmers to the B.C. AAA Long Course Swimming Championships in Victoria on the weekend.
The Classics finished 13th in the 40-club meet, with a number of local swimmers placing in the top eight.
Notable performances included Gia Bogetti achieving her first-ever senior national qualifying times in the 100-metre and 200-metre butterfly events, times that qualify Bogetti for the Canadian National Swim Trials, at which swimmers try to qualify for the 2009 World Championships in Rome.
Kamloops Classics placing in the top eight:
n Joshua Freund (10-under boys): second, 100-m freestyle and 50-m breaststroke; fourth, 200-m individual medley and 400-m freestyle; sixth, 50-m butterfly; eighth, 100-m backstroke.
n Kieran Waterous (10-under boys): fifth, 100-m backstroke and 200-m individual medley; sixth, 50-m breaststroke; eighth, 50-m butterfly.
n Kaelan Freund (11-year-old boys): second, 400-m individual medley and 100-m breaststroke; third, 200-m individual medley and 200-m breaststroke; fourth, 50-m freestyle and 400-m freestyle; fifth, 100-m freestyle; sixth, 200-m freestyle; seventh, 100-m backstroke.
n Carel Ackermann (11-year-old boys): fourth, 1,500 freestyle and 200-m breaststroke; third, 100-breaststroke.
n Brittany Freund (13-year-old girls): eighth, 200-m freestyle.
n Dylan Srepel (13-year-old boys): fifth, 100-m freestyle; seventh, 50-m freestyle and 200-m individual medley; fourth, 200-m freestyle.
n Dylana Milobar (13-year-old girls): third, 400-m individual medley; sixth, 200-m butterfly; second, 100-m breaststroke; fourth, 200-m individual medley; fifth, 200-m breaststroke.
n Theoren Leveille (14-year-old boys): eighth, 200-m breaststroke.
n Michael Casol (15-year-old boys): eighth, 50-m freestyle.
n Gia Bogetti (16-over girls): first, 100-m and 200-m butterfly; third, 800-m freestyle; seventh, 200-m freestyle; fourth, 400-m freestyle.
n Taylor Dalke (16-over boys): eighth, 1,500-m freestyle.
n Greg Petersen (16-over boys): sixth, 200-m breaststroke.
n M.J. Sorba (16-over boys): sixth, 1,500-m freestyle.
n Classics 12-and-under boys relay team — consisting of Kaelan Freund, Joshua Freund, Carel Ackermann and Kieran Waterous — placed seventh in the 800-m freestyle relay and eighth in the 200-m freestyle relay.
n Classics 14-and-under girls relay team — composed of Dylana Milobar, Heather Waterous, Shaina Kloska and Brittany Freund — placed seventh in the 800-m freestyle relay.
n Classics 15-and-over girls relay team — comprising Gia Bogetti, Julia Casol, Madison McGregor and Dylana Milobar — placed fourth in the 200-m medley relay and eighth in the 800-m freestyle relay.
n Classics 15-and-over boys relay team — with M.J. Sorba, Greg Petersen, Taylor Dalke and Michael Casol in the pool — placed seventh in the 200-m medley relay.
