Equestrians ride into Pritchard
Updated: July 04, 2009 7:05 PM
The Kamloops area will play host to nearly 100 equestrians from Western Canada this weekend.
Johvale Stables, in Pritchard, is staging the season’s first Johvale High Country Horse Trials.
This two-day event brings together riders to compete in three disciplines: Dressage, cross-country track and show jumping.
“One of the most exciting elements of the competition takes place on Saturday morning (July 4) as riders compete through a series of jumps over a two-kilometre cross-country track”, said Heather Blomgren, owner of Johvale Stables, one of the few in Canada with such course.
The 2009 course redesign and build for 2009 was again undertaken by experts from Georgia and Tennessee.
Dressage tests began Thursday (July 2), with stadium jumping in the afternoon. The cross country event begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday (July 4) and will likely finish by 1 p.m.
Spectators are welcome. Johvale Stables is located at 1732 Upper Duck Range Rd. in Pritchard.
