TRU baseball team packing for Alberta
Despite having 11 wins taken away due to an ineligible-player ruling, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s baseball team managed to make the Canadian Colleges Baseball Conference (CCBC) playoffs by sweeping the Kwantlen Eagles Thursday.
TRU had to sweep the Surrey-based college to gain entry to the post-season.
With wins of 6-2 and 5-1, the Pack did what needed to be done.
Catcher Bryan Burston led the way in the opener, going four-for-five at the plate, while also stealing two bases.
In the second game, Lee Ingram pitched a complete game, striking out nine Eagle batters.
With the sweep, TRU finished the season with a record of 13-17.
The record would have been 24-6 without the ineligible-player ruling.
The CCBC playoffs begin Thursday in Lethbridge, Alta.
