On Tuesday, Sept. 29, 800 students from the Kamloops-Thompson school district participated in an extraordinary event at GM Place — We Day.

In attendance were 16,000 students from communities all over B.C. who were inspired and motivated by speakers and performers, including the Dalai Lama, Jane Goodall, Mia Farrow, Sarah McLachlan, Jason Mraz and Craig and Marc Kielburger.

Many thanks go to Doug Collins and Tracy Pellizari of CFJC, Stan Baily and Henry Small of 98.3 CIFM, Kamloops This Week, and the Kamloops Daily News for bringing attention to this event.

We would also like to thank Wal-Mart for providing name tags for all involved.

Much gratitude goes to Investors Group and Costco for donating bottled water and apples for the bus ride home.

All participating schools are now in the process of deciding on how they will make a difference within our community and on a global level.

Throughout the year, watch for these amazing young people working on their initiatives to make the world a better place to live for all.
