Drivers with sunnier dispositions would be nice

Trying to use the city transit service can certainly be a pleasant time but, from what I see from many of the drivers, it must be frustrating for many riders.
Since moving here, I use transit on a regular basis and consider myself — while in the 55-age-and-up group — to be relatively healthy.
I have noticed one route and driver to be very inconsiderate of others, especially those in their senior years or anyone with problems getting around.
Take, for instance, a driver with whom I have had interacted many times and find lacking in much courtesy — the June 12 bus No. 9206 Pacific Way.
I got on the bus at the downtown exchange at 1:45 p.m., offering a pleasant hello, but receiving no answer.
I was followed by two grey-haired women — one with a shopping cart and one with a cane — and another fair-haired woman who seemed to have some difficulty getting on the bus and who seemed to be in some pain.
They all offered a pleasant greeting, but received no reply.
The women were offered no assistance in getting on and had to pull their cart up the high step.
All of them got off at the same stop and, again, there was no effort given to lift their cart off the bus.
They left the bus with some difficulty.
This driver — who must be glued to this route — seems oblivious to anyone needing help, whether it be moms with strollers or others.
He appears to be getting up in years himself and one would think he might be more considerate.
Maybe a good shake of the head would bring him back to the realities of life as people get up in years.
I would think a city of Kamloops’ size could do better.
While many may look at the job of bus driver as easy and thankless, there are those who try to show their appreciation — even if it falls on deaf ears.
