SWINE FLU: First Kamloops H1N1 clinic dates set
Updated: October 30, 2009 9:39 AM
With 230,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine being shipped across the province, Kamloops is getting its first batch.
A combined H1N1 and seasonal flu clinic will be held on Nov. 3 and Nov. 6 at the Kamloops Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Dr., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Since supplies are being delivered in smaller batches, immunization in the first few weeks is for those at highest risk from H1N1, including pregnant women in the second half of pregnancy, people under age 65 with chronic conditions, children six to 59 months of age, household contacts and care providers of infants under six months of age, household contacts and care providers of persons who are immunocompromised, people residing in rural and remote communities — including the aboriginal population — and health-care workers involved in responding to pandemic influenza.
The seasonal flu shots are available to those 65 years and older and those at risk of health complications from the flu.
More clinics are being added in the coming weeks, so anyone who needs and wants the vaccine will be able to get it.
