Sun Peaks Resort is offering complimentary resort accommodation to West Kelowna families evacuated by the forest fires.

Several hotels in Sun Peaks have agreed to offer rooms for impacted families.

“Only a few years ago, Sun Peaks faced a similar wildfire and our community had to evacuate. It was a fearful and challenging time,” said Tourism Sun Peaks president Christopher Nicolson.

“The resort community felt strongly that we needed to help our friends in Kelowna and return the generosity we received in 2003.”

Sun Peaks is two-and-a-half hours from West Kelowna.

Families will be hosted in a variety of resort hotels and condominiums.

The invitation extends to those residents who have registered in person with emergency social services and are under an evacuation order.

Evacuated families requiring accommodation are to call Sun Peaks Resort at 1-800-807-3257 to make a reservation between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Residents must provide identification to prove they are under an evacuation order.
