One man was taken into custody on Thursday as Kamloops Mounties executed a search warrant at a Westsyde home, uncovering what police are describing as a "very large" and "very sophisticated" marijuana grow operation.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Doug Aird said cops entered the home, in the 4500-block of Westsyde Road, just after 1 p.m. and found 1,500 plants.
"The operation itself was very sophisticated and included constructed separate rooms in the basement for varying stages of marijuana plants," Aird said.
Along with the pot — which Aird said would be worth about $1 million on the street — police also seized $15,000 worth of growing equipment and a vehicle.
A 32-year-old Vancouver man was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in Kamloops provincial court later today (Friday, June 26), likely facing charges of production of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
