Kamloops Mayor Terry Lake will hold a press conference Friday morning at Kamloops Airport to announce his political future.
And, with Coun. Peter Milobar staging a press conference Monday, it is widely expected Lake will be seeking a Liberal nomination in Kamloops while Milobar declares his candidacy for what will be a vacant mayor's chair,
Lake's announcement will follow the sod-turning event at Fulton Field to mark the beginning of the $20-million airport expansion project.
It is expected that Lake will announce he will be seeking the provincial Liberal nomination in one of two Kamloops ridings.
Incumbent Liberal MLA Claude Richmond will not be seeking re-election in next May's provincial general election.
Milobar and fellow Coun. John O'Fee have expressed an interest in running for mayor in November's civic election, but both have told KTW they want to wait for Lake to decide his political future being they make their decision.
Only one person, non-incumbent Murphy Kennedy, has declared for the mayoral race.
