Perhaps the best part of the Kamloops concert with Chris and Natalie Donnelly was the closeness the musicians had to the audience.
Then again, maybe it was the closeness they showed for each other as the renowned jazz pianist and his soprano wife mixed their love of the two musical genres together in St. Paul’s Cathedral.
In fact, love was a major component of the concert; Chris would play a few numbers and then engage the audience with witty anecdotes and explanations about why he loved the songs he was playing.
Natalie would step up with some incredible opera and they’d again share the reasons for their love of their music.
Although the opera might have been a little loud for a small space, the crowd ate it up and showed its own love with raucous applause at every opportunity.
It was a delightfut recipe for an enteraining evening.
The Donnellys performed as part of a partnership between BC Living Arts and Entertainment Management.
